The rain starts early in the day, pouring down on Henrietta in sheets. It's the kind of rain that tends to keep people inside, but mostly they're just glad it isn't snow anymore. Spring is approaching quickly and this kind of rainfall is definitely the first sign of it. Gansey doesn't mind that it rains all day long, from first period to last.

It distracts him some, makes him feel nostalgic for things he can't quite put his finger on, and then worried for those same reasons. Then again, he's been a lot more distracted at school lately, not able to concentrate or pick up on his studies as much as usual. He wonders if it has to do with his anticipation to see Blue, because even now, that's all he's thinking about. Rain, the Camaro, Blue Sargent. Somewhere in the back of his head he's constantly thinking about Ronan too, but he supposes that's what best friends do.

By the time the last bell rings though, it's all about Blue. He certainly isn't going to let the rain stop him. Dinner, a movie, possibly sleeping over tonight. Yes, he definitely wants to ask her to sleep over tonight. He grabs his books and neatly puts them away, then goes to meet up with Ronan, Adam and Kavinsky by the front entrance. He has a good feeling about tonight.

Gansey practically races out of his last class, waving when he sees his friends, smiling as he hoists his bag over his shoulder. "Can you believe this rain? All day. Roads must be slippery."

"It's called music, Ronan.' He mocks back at Adam as he reaches out and swats the dial on the radio and turns it off. After a long moment of silence he breaks it with a sharp snap of his fingers. "AH! I know what we need to do!"

Staring straight ahead he fixates on the rain pounding the windshield. "Swing my the store. You need tampons."

Ugh sorry my mind vomited words.

Adm just sighs, long and self-suffering. Ten minutes ago he would have been in a good enough mood that the words wouldn't do anything to him. In fact, he'd probably laugh and crack a joke as well, but how things are now, Adam's on edge and distracted by too many things. In the street ahead he catches a glimpse of something flying by. Something large enough that its flight should be impossible, but when he blinks again, it's gone.

Thankfully, the drive from Aglionby to Monmouth isn't that long, and sooner rather than later, he's pulling through the industrial district of Monmouth Street and into the warehouse-cum-living space of Monmouth Manufacturing. He'd finally found some time to get the first floor door repaired, so that's flung open and left open so Ronan can come in, immediately greeted by the sights and sounds of the various animals living there.

He pets Gunnar affectionately as he moves through the lower level until the dog finally grows bored and notices Ronan to go after him. He strips as he moves along, unmindful of anything beyond the need to get dry. A few minutes later and he's using an old towel to dry himself while wearing newly washed coveralls over something warmer than what he'd gone to school in.

That sensation is growing again, images moving that aren't there. The lights in his room flicker as patterned ivy casts shadows against his lamp. There was no response earlier, but now it's growing more urgent, seeming as if the forest is trying to talk this time. Hesitantly, he pulls his cards out while trying to mask the fear growing inside him. This time, Cabeswater speaks through his cards, showing him where the ley line is broken. Too far to do anything today. Not in this weather. It quiets some as he acknowledges its need but doesn't go away entirely, playing with his mind and upping his tension rather than alleviating it, especially when his questions go unanswered.

He plops down on the couch on the second floor and rests there, half-slouched on the couch, watching television for once rather than studying. With the drive and with Cabeswater making him hyperaware at the moment, he misses nothing. Everything is a distraction and trying to parse whatever bullshit was thrown at him for homework can wait.

Ronan goes straight inside and right to his room. He only pauses long enough to give Gunnar a scratch on the top of his head. With Chainsaw perched on his shoulder he wanders off to his own space to change.

Stripped of his uniform he replaces it with a soft, black hoodie and jeans that are perfectly distressed. Whatever is going on with Adam, he is oblivious to as he goes about getting comfortable and relaxed after a long day at school.

Waiting for his bagel bites to heat up he drains a bottle of beer. The microwave chimes that it is done. He grabs another cold bottle and his food. Plopping down on the couch he speaks to Adam with a mouth full of food.

"You seem weird."

Adam doesn't really look at Ronan, trying instead to focus on whatever's on the TV. It's after a moment that he realizes that it's the home shopping channel that he scowls and changes it to something else. "I'm always weird," he comments when the channel's on something less suspect. He wars inside himself for a moment on whether or not to tell the truth there. Maybe they could understand him better if they knew what was going on. You're just seeing things, Parrish. But things have changed since then. Reluctantly, he scratches the back of his head.

"Cabeswater's been talking all day," he finally confesses. He looks in Ronan's direction with tired eyes. "It wants me to fix part of the ley line, but it's still not leaving me alone, even after I agreed. It usually leaves me alone after I figure out what it wants, but." He lifts a hand ineffectually.

He listens, eating as Adam explains. At one point he holds out the plate of mini pizzas. "So, we make it leave you alone. What do you need to do?"

Seemed easy enough to Ronan. Do something about it. He worked on eating and drinking his beer. When the bottle was empty he stood up. "You want anything? I'm still hungry."

Adam takes one of the bagels and eats it thoughtfully, trying not to just scarf it down. "I don't even know the whole picture yet. It's never everything all at the same time." That's probably the most frustrating thing about being connected to it. "I know where the problem is, but there's always some sort of clause. There have been a few times that the line's been broken and I had to fix it at a different place entirely." He shrugs slightly. "Sometimes it doesn't answer even when I ask."

"Just a soda," he says. "Maybe some more of those bagels. Save me some for work, though. I'll pay you back later."

"Sounds like you need to get off your ass and go find the problem, right?" In the kitchen-bathroom he puts in another plate of bagel bites. Takes a piss. Gets a beer and a soda. Then returns to Adam.

"Pay me back for what?" He wondered when anyone would notice that the frozen foods he loves to eat never seem to run out, yet Ronan never goes grocery shopping and comes back with any of them. "Just eat. Don't be weird about it."

The food is set down between them and Ronan offers him the soda. Yes, he washed his hands. "I'll go with you if something needs done."

Adam snorts. "In this weather?" He shakes his head with a bit of a smirk. "I could have sworn you were whining about the rain getting on your jacket earlier."

He shakes his head. "It's only fair." Still, he takes the soda and food and starts chowing on them. "It does, but it can wait. I don't have time to go down to whatever the problem is and then be back to work on time."

"If it's not going to shut up and leave you alone, yeah, in this weather. I'll dream us up rain gear. Quit being a pussy." He glares at Adam. "It was my hair."

Ronan fishes around for his despised phone. "I'll call in for you. What's the number?"

Ronan's declaration makes Adam relax. He'd been unsure about whether Ronan would be helpful, especially since...since what? Adam tries to wrack his brain but can't come up with anything that would have the other angry with him, or vise versa. He shakes it off and sips from the soda. "Of course, how could I forget?" His lips quirk at the joke, though, even through his mounting anxiety.

Which is then met with another bit. Cabeswater needed him to fix the line. But Adam needs this job, too. And as much as it cuts into his time and energy, he suspects Boyd kind of needs him, as well, if the offer to come along with him during the peak season held any truth. But...it was getting bad. Maybe he shouldn't ignore it. Just this once, he thinks to himself before reciting the numbers to Ronan.

Ronan dials and listens to it ring. He's sure Adam is already worrying about how to replace the lost wages and Ronan is already figuring out how to sneak the money into Adam's wallet. The line is picked up and he asks to speak to Boyd. Yeah, he knows where you work and who you work for. Sometimes Ronan makes it known just how well he does actually pay attention to his friends.

"Hey Boyd." He started. "It's Lynch. Ronan. Adam's roommate?" There was a pause while Boyd rambled about how he remembered him. Kid with the BMW always dropping Adam off. He took the time to work on his beer. Then eventually added. "I"m calling because he's sick. Like it's not safe for him to move more than a few feet from a toilet, man. No way he can make it to work tonight." Another pause. "Yeah, sure, I'll tell him. Thanks, man."

Hanging the phone up he laid it on his chest and chugged his beer.

"Boyd says he hopes you feel better. Drink lots of fluids. Call him tomorrow if you're still under the weather."

Adam just kind of stares at him, amazed. He could have gotten the time off if he needed it, but there would have been some sort of discussion. But then again, Adam's never called in sick before. It usually is a case of him asking for time off and him having to sell his soul to make up the time lost. It almost seems too good to be true. He sputters for a moment before standing up. "Yeah. I. I'll find a way to pay you back, I swear."

"You do and I'll punch you in the kidney." Ronan shot back. His words had none of his usual bite. Because there was no way he would ever raise a hand to Adam. He'd been hit enough. Handing off his beer he closed his eyes. "Give me five minutes. I'll be back with rain coats." He popped a blue pill and closed his eyes.
