The rain starts early in the day, pouring down on Henrietta in sheets. It's the kind of rain that tends to keep people inside, but mostly they're just glad it isn't snow anymore. Spring is approaching quickly and this kind of rainfall is definitely the first sign of it. Gansey doesn't mind that it rains all day long, from first period to last.
It distracts him some, makes him feel nostalgic for things he can't quite put his finger on, and then worried for those same reasons. Then again, he's been a lot more distracted at school lately, not able to concentrate or pick up on his studies as much as usual. He wonders if it has to do with his anticipation to see Blue, because even now, that's all he's thinking about. Rain, the Camaro, Blue Sargent. Somewhere in the back of his head he's constantly thinking about Ronan too, but he supposes that's what best friends do.
By the time the last bell rings though, it's all about Blue. He certainly isn't going to let the rain stop him. Dinner, a movie, possibly sleeping over tonight. Yes, he definitely wants to ask her to sleep over tonight. He grabs his books and neatly puts them away, then goes to meet up with Ronan, Adam and Kavinsky by the front entrance. He has a good feeling about tonight.
Gansey practically races out of his last class, waving when he sees his friends, smiling as he hoists his bag over his shoulder. "Can you believe this rain? All day. Roads must be slippery."

Date: 2015-03-15 02:01 am (UTC)The old panic seizes Adam, and between third period and lunch he blocks out one of the bathrooms to scry. What do you want? But after a time, he realizes all he's doing is staring into his reflection in a tinfoil-covered sink. Frustrated, he keeps to himself, and as lunch period ends, the visions begin to go away for the most part. It still leaves him a bit on the edge.
By the end of the day, things have returned to normal, and Adam's more or less back in the same mindset as he was this morning, feeling more alive than otherworldly, watching the clouds above roil and spit rain and lightning. He revels in it like he never has before, even though he's soaked to the bone, he doesn't care. He feels rather than sees or hears Gansey's arrival, a shift in air currents and a changing of the rain to accommodate his space, along with the perennial mix of his cologne and mint, diluted in the smell of late winter rains and over-saturated soil.
He smiles when he's close enough and finally opens his eyes. "It's not so bad. It makes you feel alive, doesn't it?"

Date: 2015-03-15 02:36 am (UTC)At the moment, he's standing under the stone awning right outside Aglionby's entrance, laughing as he keeps trying to shove Ronan out from under it so he gets more and more wet. Hilarious, really. "Ronan loves it. He's gonna make everyone flower crowns when it's Spring."
When he sees his other friends, he gives Ronan a big obnoxious smooch on the cheek. "Alright. Time for me to go. Try not to miss me too much. I'll grab a pizza for you fucks on the way home. Oh, and Dick?" He digs into his pocket and tosses a condom at Gansey. "Have fun, kiddo. Be safe." He laughs and swats Ronan on the ass before he heads off to his friends, shoving Skov into a puddle before he gets into his car.

Date: 2015-03-15 02:51 am (UTC)"Yours is going to have thorns if you keep being a shit. " There is a quick pause and a small smile. "Behave."
Pressing the back of his hand against his mouth he quieted the snort and cackle of laughter at the condom. His eyes follow K as he runs off with his pack of friends, then drift back to Adam and Gansey.
"Which one of you is giving me a lift? He was my ride."

Date: 2015-03-15 03:11 am (UTC)A moment later, a condom is being flung at him and he really tries not to look too embarrassed about it. "Safe as life," he mutters under his breath, but he does tuck it away, instead of throwing it back.
"I'm afraid I can't today. Big plans with Jane. Do not make a big deal if I bring her back with me tonight, alright?" He gives Ronan a pointed look, then glances at Adam as well, because he knows both Ronan and Kavinsky manage to get Adam to join in on their shenanigans these days.

Date: 2015-03-15 03:41 am (UTC)He looks at the two with a small quirk of the lips. "I think Drew's back in Belle Dam this week. Haven't seen him since the other day, so if you guys want some privacy, you're welcome to my room." It's his own subtle way of poking fun at Gansey, but the offer extended is serious.
To Ronan, he gestures mildly. "That leaves me. Come on, before you catch cold."

Date: 2015-03-15 04:46 am (UTC)"I'll burn that shirt before I make a flower crown to match it. Hell, I might just burn it for the fun of it now."
His fist bumps against Gansey's before being stuffed in the pocket of his jacket. "Excelsior." Said in a teasing tone. Rain drips on to his head and he sighs dramatically. "Shit, my hair."

Date: 2015-03-15 06:08 am (UTC)"You wouldn't dare burn my shirts, Lynch. I'd burn Kavinsky's clothes and we all know that would be so much worse," he smirks, then laughs, because the thought of him dancing around a bonfire is hilarious.
"Excelsior!" He fist bumps both boys, then waves them off. "I'll text you when I'm on my way," he says to them, then heads to the Camaro, rain pouring down on his shoulders, soaking through his shirt. He probably should have brought an umbrella, but he's not always a hundred percent sensible.
He drives slowly, the rain making it a lot harder to see, and as he suspected, the roads are treacherous. He worries about Ronan and Adam for a moment. Even Kavinsky. But he shakes his head and tells himself they'll be fine. They're all good drivers. He pulls up in front of 300 Fox Way and parks, getting out and running up to the door, ringing the bell.

Date: 2015-03-15 06:23 am (UTC)Once on the road, he becomes a little unsure, watching how quickly the rain drowns out his windshield. He speaks to Ronan without looking at him, much too concerned with road conditions at the moment. "Is there anywhere you feel like going? I don't have work until tonight."

Date: 2015-03-15 07:51 am (UTC)On a good day he doesn't trust other people driving. Would rarely if ever say someone was a good driver. In rain like this? He wants off the road as quickly as possible.
Glaring at the radio he waits until Adam can't do anything about it and changes the music.
"What was that shit? It's enough to make me jump off a cliff."

Date: 2015-03-15 08:14 am (UTC)It isn't helping.
"Seriously, change it back. It's breaking my concentration."

Date: 2015-03-15 08:45 am (UTC)Staring straight ahead he fixates on the rain pounding the windshield. "Swing my the store. You need tampons."
Ugh sorry my mind vomited words.
Date: 2015-03-15 04:34 pm (UTC)Thankfully, the drive from Aglionby to Monmouth isn't that long, and sooner rather than later, he's pulling through the industrial district of Monmouth Street and into the warehouse-cum-living space of Monmouth Manufacturing. He'd finally found some time to get the first floor door repaired, so that's flung open and left open so Ronan can come in, immediately greeted by the sights and sounds of the various animals living there.
He pets Gunnar affectionately as he moves through the lower level until the dog finally grows bored and notices Ronan to go after him. He strips as he moves along, unmindful of anything beyond the need to get dry. A few minutes later and he's using an old towel to dry himself while wearing newly washed coveralls over something warmer than what he'd gone to school in.
That sensation is growing again, images moving that aren't there. The lights in his room flicker as patterned ivy casts shadows against his lamp. There was no response earlier, but now it's growing more urgent, seeming as if the forest is trying to talk this time. Hesitantly, he pulls his cards out while trying to mask the fear growing inside him. This time, Cabeswater speaks through his cards, showing him where the ley line is broken. Too far to do anything today. Not in this weather. It quiets some as he acknowledges its need but doesn't go away entirely, playing with his mind and upping his tension rather than alleviating it, especially when his questions go unanswered.
He plops down on the couch on the second floor and rests there, half-slouched on the couch, watching television for once rather than studying. With the drive and with Cabeswater making him hyperaware at the moment, he misses nothing. Everything is a distraction and trying to parse whatever bullshit was thrown at him for homework can wait.

Date: 2015-03-16 12:23 pm (UTC)Stripped of his uniform he replaces it with a soft, black hoodie and jeans that are perfectly distressed. Whatever is going on with Adam, he is oblivious to as he goes about getting comfortable and relaxed after a long day at school.
Waiting for his bagel bites to heat up he drains a bottle of beer. The microwave chimes that it is done. He grabs another cold bottle and his food. Plopping down on the couch he speaks to Adam with a mouth full of food.
"You seem weird."

Date: 2015-03-16 04:30 pm (UTC)"Cabeswater's been talking all day," he finally confesses. He looks in Ronan's direction with tired eyes. "It wants me to fix part of the ley line, but it's still not leaving me alone, even after I agreed. It usually leaves me alone after I figure out what it wants, but." He lifts a hand ineffectually.

Date: 2015-03-16 06:20 pm (UTC)Seemed easy enough to Ronan. Do something about it. He worked on eating and drinking his beer. When the bottle was empty he stood up. "You want anything? I'm still hungry."

Date: 2015-03-16 09:25 pm (UTC)"Just a soda," he says. "Maybe some more of those bagels. Save me some for work, though. I'll pay you back later."

Date: 2015-03-15 06:25 am (UTC)Fast forward twenty minutes, and she's a bundle of energy, all smiles and grins, getting ready to head out. She's changed into recent thrift store acquisitions, hair is impressive with just how unintentionally tousled she gets it, and she finds her umbrella. The rainboots with rainbow polkadots are the final touch, and then she's just pretending to be busy so she's not waiting at the front door. Date night with Gansey had a whole new level of anticipation, and Blue's desperately trying not to show it.
Persephone and Blue run headlong into one another in the hall, and Persephone just stares at her. The warning of 'don't ask Persephone questions you don't want an answer to' flits through Blue's head. She's too distracted with her night, and Persephone never offers information when she knows it's not wanted. Blue just gives her a quick hug and a huge grin, and Persephone silently goes back to her room, tea forgotten in the kitchen.
Gansey's arrival is heralded by the rumble of the Pig, still heard over the pelting of rain at the roof and windows. It's also heralded by Orla's loud announcement down the stairs. "BLUE!!"
"I KNOW, SHUT UP." She grabs her big coat with all the pockets, her umbrella, and tears downstairs. "No, I got it." She shoos Jimi away from the door, and throws it open with a huge smile for Gansey. She about throws herself into his arms and kisses him, but she feels the eyes of everyone in the house slowly creeping around corners. "Let's go." She pushes at him and pops her umbrella, holding it up high as she gets ready to dash for the car.

Date: 2015-03-15 08:02 am (UTC)When the door flings open, Gansey is met with one of the most beautiful sights he's ever seen and he realizes just how in love he really is. His arms go around her as he kisses her back, though he feels bad that he's drenched in water, but Blue doesn't seem to mind at all. He ducks under the umbrella, smile on his face. "Honestly, in all my time here, I've never seen a downpour this bad. How was your day?"

Date: 2015-03-15 08:33 am (UTC)The minute Gansey is there, she leans over and kisses him soundly. "My day was fine. Now it's great." She smiles at him, kisses him again, then settles back in her seat, putting on her seatbelt. "How was yours?"
no subject
Date: 2015-03-15 06:52 pm (UTC)Getting into the car, he shakes off his arms, then leans in to kiss her. "Mine was good. I couldn't stop thinking about you all day. It was very hard to concentrate, I have to admit," he smiles over at her. "You think I'll dry off in time for dinner?"

Date: 2015-03-15 09:24 pm (UTC)The smile that stretches across Blue's face is huge, the idea that Gansey could be entirely distracted by her easily the best compliment she's ever received. She sidles across the bench seat a little, her hand sliding under the neck of his Aglionby sweater, feeling his skin is damp. "I don't think so. This is what a raincoat is for." With her other hand she tugs at the collar of her own, then leans up and kisses him. "We have all the time we need though. Go change."

Date: 2015-03-16 04:24 am (UTC)"Ah, yes. Raincoats are wonderful, when one remembers to bring them. It completely slipped my mind, honestly and I didn't want to be late for school." He smiles into the kiss, then pulls back and shakes his head, small water droplets getting everywhere. "Alright. Back to Monmouth. I'll sneak in and sneak out." He starts up the Pig and pulls out of the driveway, headed back for Monmouth. He drives slower than usual, windshield wipers working overtime.
no subject
Date: 2015-03-16 04:53 am (UTC)But her attentions really are elsewhere. She's more concerned with Gansey, and his plans for their evening, and sitting a little too close to him in the Pig with her arm stretched across the back of the seat and her fingers trailing through wet hair. "Can't be late." Something in her feels like she's forgotten something important, that nagging feeling at the back of her mind, but it's so easily ignored that that's what Blue does. She watches out the window, water sheeting over the glass with brief moments of clarity provided by the wipers.
There's an rev from the engine of the Pig, lurching forward for a moment, before it goes back to normal. Blue pauses, listening, and when it's driving like it always does, loud and with the smell of gasoline, she turns her attention back to Gansey. "So what's the plan tonight?"
no subject
Date: 2015-03-16 09:22 am (UTC)He draws his attention back to Blue, but only for a moment before his full attention is back on the road again. "You just said we have all the time we need! We wont be late," he chuckles, then goes silent as he tries to listen to the engine when it starts doing what it always does, right before it breaks down. "Oh no... no, no, no. Not here." Gansey tries to look out the window to see how close they are, but any more sputtering and they'll end up stuck right in the middle of the road.
He pulls over to the side of the road, right as the Pig does it's last sputter and dies. He lets out a long breath, then glances at Blue. "Not this. This was not the plan for tonight." He wants to curse, but he refrains.
no subject
Date: 2015-03-16 09:45 am (UTC)"I was giving you crap about your need to be early for everything, mister." Her voice is prodding and so is her smile, but then it's fading to concern when the Pig is guided to the side of the road, giving one final valiant effort before it chokes and dies. She sighs a little.
"It's just flooded though, right? Usually just wait it out a few minutes and we're good? Don't get too discouraged." Her smile is back and bright and aimed at Gansey. "Like I said, all the time in the world, even if it means waiting it out for an extra fifteen minutes here on the side of the road."
